This is a 12 month contract position and is the opportunity for a talented Senior Java/J2ee developer to be an active member in key Java/J2ee projects, building trading platforms for some of the main names in financial services.

 You will contribute to the implementation and design of a complex Java/J2EE project. You will be involved throughout the entire software development lifecycle, and therefore play a pivotal part in the creation of a trading /market data system.
In this role, you will work in a smaller team, with access to technical training and the view to become a Java/J2EE Technical Lead.

Specialising in Java/J2EE development this client is up to date with the latest and greatest technical tools, not only will you improve your market data knowledge; you will become a Java/J2EE Guru.

You will be involved in projects such as.

  • The design and implementation of  custom built applications using enterprise open source frameworks: 
     Struts, Open Symphony, Webwork
  • Open Symphony Workflow, Spring, Hibernate 
  •  Acegi, SecurityFilter, Commons logging (Log4J), BIRT, Apache POI 
  •  Applications will be  using Weblogic, Tomcat, JBoss, and IBM WebSphere Application Server
  • Designing and implementing middleware services using JMS, JTA; EJBs, Adapter Libraries 
  •  Implementing project testing using JUnit and JMeter

The ideal candidate will have,

  •  At least 4 years experience as a Senior Java/J2ee Developer
  • Exposure to financial services  (not essential)
  •  Knowledge of Market Data systems such as Reuters and Bloombergs (a plus!)
  •  Knowledge and experience with area such as commodities, equities or fx.
  • Open source technologies such as Hibernate and Spring (essential)
