SaaS property valuation service launches

Housing intelligence and information solutions vendor, Hometrack Australia, has developed and launched an interactive online property valuation service – Hometrack Valuer (HTV) – which it claims will speed up the processing of residential property valuations and mortgage applications, while “virtually eliminating the risk of fraud being committed.” Hometrack CEO, Brendan Darcy claims the technology on which the new service is based “represents a significant leap forward in the application of technology” for delivering these services. According to Darcy, the technology was custom developed over the last 12 months in Australia, with HTV providing a “secure online application that is hosted locally and delivered as Software as a Service (SaaS).” Darcy says HTV “skilfully integrates a range of cutting edge Web 2.0 technologies overlayed with highly detailed housing and residential property database information, incorporating information on 100 per cent of Australian residential properties.

SAP user group establishes CIO Council

The SAP Australian User Group (SAUG) has launched a CIO Council which it says will provide a forum for CIOs to network, knowledge share and be a “collective voice for CIOs in communicating with SAP.” SAUG Chairperson, Grahame Reynolds, said the SAUG CIO Council was an initiative to deepen knowledge sharing and networking opportunities for CIOs and “will serve as a forum for driving direct feedback to SAP on issues of key importance to the SAP customer base.” Reynolds said SAP is supporting the CIO Council and will be actively involved at an executive level, with the council “driving thought leadership within the SAP ecosystem, provide SAUG members a channel for global and local influence on SAP product and policy and bring global knowledge to local CIOs.” The CIO Council is open for membership to all C-level, Vice President or Director level executives at SAUG member companies, and the new body will be guided by a Steering Committee of volunteer CIOs, comprised of Owen Coppage, CIO and Group General Manager, Customer Operations, AGL; David Bough, CIO, National Foods; Dennis Lewis, CIO, 7-Eleven Stores Pty Ltd, Sharron Kennedy, CIO, Energy Australia, and Olaf Pietschner, CIO, Origin Energy. John Dousset, SAUG Committee Member and Principal Application Architect at Australia Post, has been appointed as the council’s SAUG Liaison

Cisco debuts new 322Tbps core router

After weeks of expectation-building hype that on the eve or the announcement gave its shares a four percent boost, Cisco has released the CRS-3, a successor to its top end core router, the CRS-1, with more than triple the throughput: up to 322Tbps, as against 92Tbps. Impressive though the CRS-3 is, the general feeling among commentators and reporters has been that the reality did not justify the hype.
