Network Performance Engineer

Our client is one of the most successful banks in the APAC region. The firm has a strong organisational commitment to customer satisfaction across retail, business and institutional banking as well as its investment and funds management business. Due to internal growth, a vacancy has arisen for a Network Performance Engineer to join a team of 3 specialists who are accountable for the capacity and performance health of the bank’s network infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Head of Service Management & Operations, you will work in an established team that formulates infrastructure-focused and non-functional risk assessments as well as defines the standards of performance and capacity of the network infrastructure platforms.
The firm’s profitability is directly correlated to the performance and resilience of its systems, so the Performance Engineering team is crucial to the firm’s wider success. The team is imbedded in the business and interacts closely with Infrastructure Engineers, Capacity Analysts and Data Analysts, whose accountabilities are performance, resilience, capacity and availability for the bank’s network systems.
It is essential that you possess a strong overall understanding of all network elements of technology, an in-depth knowledge of infrastructure/network capacity solutions and have a creative approach to problem solving to help provide a competitive edge in a constantly evolving technical market. The role is suited to a detailed-oriented individual who has a drive for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Define standards pertaining to capacity and performance of network infrastructure
- Identify network traffic risks
- Manage capability resources across network platforms
- Analysing end-to-end the performance of the bank’s web services platform
- Eliminate avoidable system tuning efforts and provide recommendation on risk mitigation initiatives
- Provide continuous improvement and participate in review discussions
- Perform in an environment where multi-tasking, constant problem resolution and on-going risk assessment is the standard
Technical skills:
- 2-5 Years+ in similar performance/capacity planner role, ideally within financial services or ISP
- Strong understanding of network technologies (Cisco)
- Strong Hands on Experience with F5, BIG-IP
- Experience with Web pages and Web Services on Windows .NET server
- Experience with multiple Operating Systems and network tuning (Unix, Linux, Solaris, Windows)
- Strong analytical skills, well-developed planning skills and a highly structured approach to tackling tasks and achieving results
- Bachelor Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or alternative technical area
- Experience with Oracle or SQL Stored Procedures ( Highly Desirable)
Non technical skills:
- Strong interest in low-level detail (must)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-sufficient, highly motivated, resourceful individual
- Be a problem owner and solver with a logical approach to solving issues
- Team player, driven, strives to be the best at what he/she does
